BCCLS Adult Services Task Force

Minutes from March 17, 2017



Meeting called to order at 10:05 a.m.

 

Members in attendance:  Lorri Steinbacher - RGWD, Susan Meeske - OTPN, Kaitlyn Tanis - ALDL, Denise Roberts - BOGT, Tim Baek - CLTR, Catherine Dodwell - DUMT, Donna Arera - DUMT, David Schwalbe - ENGL, Liz Miller Boose - MILL, Janet Dunn - WEWD, Marilyn Force - WYCK, Laurie Meeske - BCCLS, Margaret Rose O'Keefe - BCCLS

 

Performer's Showcase - May 4th - The BCCLS Friends Committee asked if we would like to participate in this event. After discussion, it was decided that members can contact their favorite performers to inform them of the showcase.

 

Performer Database:

  • Submission form complete. After some discussion, changes were made to the language regarding attendance, capacity, costs, comments. Also added “Would you book them again?” question. Brief description was added to the top of the form.

  • Remind librarians to use the form! Suggest they fill out for programs only booked in the last 2 years.

  • Form access will be limited to BCCLS email addresses only.

  • Database can be accessed with a BCCLS email or the BCCLS Adult listserv account.

  • Committee will test the form ahead of launch date of March 27th.

  • Susan will compose ALL email to announce the new database.

 

Summer Reading Jamboree - April 7th in Maywood at 9:30 a.m. Task force members encouraged to attend, talk up the new database.

 

SPARKS Event - June 16th in Wyckoff.

  • Limit presentations to 10 minutes, should be library generated programs

  • Ask participants to bring flyers, materials used for marketing their programs

  • Other topics to discuss:

  1. Program Disaster Preparedness

  2. How to market your program (social media, “marketing beyond the flyer”, constant contact, Evanced)

  3. How to negotiate the fees

  • Members should be prepared with programs for the April meeting

  • Lorri to send out email for event

 

Meeting locations changed - May 19th now will be in Dumont, June 9th in Allendale

Spring Soiree - April 28th - Our committee budget is $1,000.

         Discussion of whether to hold it at a library or restaurant. Lorri will make some

         calls to restaurants in the Paramus area, and we will keep a library in mind as a

                         backup.
