Talking Points

What the Friends Breakfast is:

Revenue generated from the Silent Auction Baskets and the Breakfast go directly to the BCCLS Scholarship Fund.

BCCLS has offered 105 scholarships to students pursuing Masters of Library Science while working at BCCLS member libraries and/or living in BCCLS communities since 2002.

These 105 scholarships have totaled $133,000 between 2002 and 2016.

Any student who lives and/or works in a town with a BCCLS Library is eligible to apply for a scholarship. Therefore, every library can potentially benefit from the Scholarship Fund whether or not it has a Friends group.

Supporting the Scholarship Fund

For a basket's contents, we encourage soliciting donated goods and services from your community's businesses to decrease out-of-pocket expenses.

We encourage every Library to attend the Breakfast as a show of support for the Scholarship Fund.

Suggested Basket values $50-$100.

Supply the estimated Basket value, a nickname is helpful too. I.e., “Taste of Italy” basket with wine and pasta, etc.
