Minutes
The committee approved the minutes of the LAMP meeting on March 19, 2019. Moved by Ellen O'Keefe; seconded by Catherine Dodwell. Unanimously approved.

Review of supervisory training feedback
Allison Moonitz reported that the feedback from the recent supervisory training program had been mostly positive. Directors indicated that they would be interested in forming another cohort, but there were not enough eligible staff members that had not already received the training. The committee unanimously agreed to skip a year. Supervisory training will be offered every other year.

Review of New Directors' Breakfast
The New Directors' Breakfast took place on April 18 at the BCCLS office. Gretchen Kaser reported that the breakfast went well. These breakfasts allow new directors to meet one another and facilitate an ongoing dialog among them and their mentors. The next one will be scheduled some time in the winter, depending on how many new directors are hired between now and then.

Upcoming New Professionals' Breakfast
The New Professionals' Breakfast will take place on June 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Dixon Homestead Library in Dumont. Dave Hanson, Kurt Hadeler, Stephanie Bellucci, Catherine Dodwell, Matt Latham, Julie Marallo, and Paul Shaver will be on the panel. The topics covered will be BCCLS information, finding a work/life balance and career progression.

New Business
A workshop on legal issues for library directors will be held on October 30 at the Hasbrouck Heights Library. Allison Moonitz will send out a survey to directors to determine what other workshops would be most helpful to them. Some of the proposed topics are:

  • Mental health issues

  • Purchasing and procurement cards

  • Project management during construction projects

  • Dealing with civil service and unions

  • Staff personality assessments

  • Training for mentors

Potential changes to the 2019 Salary Survey were discussed. There have been some requests that the next survey contain definitions of job titles and clearer instructions. Because of the New Jersey sick leave law, some libraries are offering a general bank of paid time off (PTO) instead of allotting separate vacation time, personal time, sick leave, etc. The survey might have to be adjusted to more accurately reflect the allotment of PTO.

Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 1:14 p.m. The next meeting will be on June 7 at the Dixon Homestead Library in Dumont at 12:00 p.m.
