Missing Items

Policy:

When a library is unable to locate an item that is not checked out and shows available in the Web catalog, the item should be marked missing. Missing status can easily be cleared by checking in the item if it is later located. 

Recommendation:

When declaring an item missing as a result of the request process, library staff should also check whether their item is the last copy in BCCLS.  If it is the last copy, contact the requesting patron’s library to let them know there are no more items for the request.
