Manual Fines

Adding Manual Fines

Only the home library may add charges to a patron's record, such as for damage to an item or any other fee created manually. If manual fines need to be added to an out-of-town patron, the library must contact the patron's home library. Charges added to a patron's record must be accompanied by explanatory notes.

It is recommended that the item barcode be used when adding a manual fine once the patron’s library has reimbursed the owning library to keep the connection between the title/author of the item and the fine. This will not prevent the item from being withdrawn by the owning library.

Patron notes related to any charge added manually should be deleted by the library that collects the fine. Patron notes should not be deleted if a partial payment is collected.
