Overview:

Read to a Dog has been an ongoing program at the Ridgewood Library for approximately 7 years. We do it on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, from 4:00 -5:00 pm. Parents book a 15-minute appointment for their child on our online calendar or we can schedule in person or on the phone. The dogs are certified therapy dogs and are insured through the organization that certifies them (either Therapy Dog International or Bright and Beautiful). Thus, the Library has no liability. This is been ongoing 12 months/year. We always have new children signing up to read to the dogs and often get calls from the owners of therapy dogs who want to join our program. At present, we have 10 dogs of all types who we schedule to be read to.
