1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Be a part of the national initiative: 1000 Books Before Kindergarten!
The concept is simple, but the rewards are priceless. Parents visit a participating library to register their infant, toddler, or preschooler. Then, they start reading! It's as simple as that. Parents start logging the books on paper or on the "1000 Books Before Kindergarten" app (iTunes or Android). They present their log at the library once they have read 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, and 1,000 books. Each time they achieve a goal, they get a stamp on the log and a sticker.
Any child who reaches 1000 books will visit the library to receive a prize, certificate and/or have their picture taken (with parental permission, of course!) depending on the library's practice. Some libraries even throw parties for children who complete the program!
Please join us in making ALL of our children lifelong readers.
